I'm always keen to try a new recipe. I especially like the ones that are easy and quick. I tried a friend's Leek and Cheese Soup tonight and it was very nice but to me it was like drinking white sauce. I'll give you the directions and you'll see what I mean. Fry 3 leeks in butter until soft. Add 2 tablespoons of flour. Add milk and some grated tasty cheese. So it was yummy but seemed wrong as a soup I think. I have, however, found the solution to my boring tasting white sauce. From now on, I'm going to add leeks!

I've just been invited to a Surprise Party. Everyone needs to have at least one surprise party planned for them (personally, my Mum planned too many when I was a kid so I have a fear of them now!) Things to remember - Even if your email says surprise party - do mention it in the text again that just to be sure. - Have someone take the birthday person somewhere for a few hours so the family can help set up with no suspicion. - Don't tell the kids if they're too young, they'll give it away without even saying anything. - Let visitors know where to park so the party person doesn't recognise the cars as they drive up to the location. - Let them think they are going to dinner with a few close friends so they don't plan anything else and so they can get dressed up for their party. - as a guest - arrive when asked - very rude to arrive at a surprise party after the guest of honour. - Have fun!

Some absolutely fabulous birthday cakes pictures have just been added to my site by a reader. Why are they fabulous? Because they are REAL Homemade Birthday Cakes! The kind that us Mums make with love xxx (OK so I'm yet to get creative in the decorating department but I'm going to... soon...) It is Footy Fever tonight in Queensland and New South Wales (Australia). I do not follow Rugby myself, don't mind a good AFL match occasionally! But these games do make a great excuse for a party! Invite your friends over - get your friends to dress in colours to support the team they are cheering on. Party Food - easy - a BBQ of course (In Australia genuine footy food is a meat pie with sauce and beer...) I'd prefer a BBQ. So set up the spare TV outside and send the guys out to cook the BBQ while the girls do a catch up and some wine tasting indoors. Then come inside, Sit down, eat, and cheer on your team! Go Queensland, squash those cockroaches!

Picnic Desserts - try a super easy cheesecake, Yum

I love Google! I needed a cheesecake recipe but I had a few conditions: No bake (I don't have an oven at present) and No Gelatine (I'm vegetarian). So I found a recipe, deciphered the American terms (thanks again Google) and voila, an easy peasy super yummy cheesecake. I didn't bookmark the page (oops!) so here's the recipe... 1 packet/tub (8 oz, 225g) softened cream cheese
1 can condensed milk
1/2 cup sour cream
1/3 cup lemon juice

Crust mixture:
I packet of crushed biscuits (crackers, cookies) mixed with enough melted butter to hold it together.
Method:
Make the crust mixture and refrigerate.
In medium size bowl beat cream cheese
Add condensed milk
Stir in sour cream and lemon juice
Mix well
Chill 20 minutes then add to the biscuit crust.
Chill for at 2 hours, overnight is good too. This is the basic mixture - add whatever you like (not too much liquid, it might not set as well). We added grated peppermint chocolate - yum. I keep mine in the freezer - doesn't take too long to thaw (not that I wait!)

I hope everyone had a very Happy Mothers Day. Let's hope those partners treated you well, we have good memories and Fathers Day isn't that far away ;) I had a lot of visitors to my Mothers Day Cards page so I hope some Mums got a gorgeous (free) card and a coloring in. So not sure what the next big occasion is, I will have to check my calendar. I do know one thing though, the year is going way, way too fast! I have a house warming party coming up so perhaps I'll do a Christmas in July theme. Happy Partying!

I was shopping this morning and went into our local Party Shop. They were making Happy Mother's Day balloons, very cute. A little silver balloon with the Happy Mothers Day wording with some pretty pearl and pink balloons to accompany them. They were helium balloons and had pretty ribbons and table weights. Much like they do table decorations for weddings. What a nice idea for Mother's Day or any occasion. Makes a change from flowers - although I did see a few of those too. As for this Mother - I'll be happy with my Roses Chocolates for brekky and big hugs from my two gorgeous (So easy to say now they are sleeping :) Happy Mother's Day everyone...
